Performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Organizes and delineates duties and responsibilities of personnel in the laboratory section or shift under the direction of the Section Supervisor. Makes decisions based on his/her skills, knowledge and abilities that are consistent with established hospital and laboratory services policies, procedures and protocols. $5,000 sign on bonus offered.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent required plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency. Must meet the requirements for a medical technologist as specified by the Rules of Regulations of the Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure Division (refer to GDHR Dept of Community Health Healthcare Facility Clinical Laboratory regulations).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Four years of technical experience in the appropriate clinical specialty preferred; previous supervisory experience preferred but not required. Must have Blood Bank experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent)
SBB certification preferred.
Must have knowledge of CAP,The Joint Commission, State of Georgia and other regulatory agency guidelines.
