RESPONSIBLE FOR: The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients during procedures in the Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology, and other Imaging departments. The RN is responsible for maintaining the standards of Cardiac Catheterization and Imaging practice; complying with established policy and procedure; coordinating all patient care activities with ancillary staff; managing supplies and equipment; and promoting collaboration with medical and other staff. The RN will participate in, but is not limited to, Invasive Cardiac Catheterization/Interventional Radiology and Imaging Procedures, as well as monitoring Cardiac Rehab patients as needed. Responsible for preparation of patients for procedures, moderate sedation and will assist with procedures in Interventional Radiology, Imaging, Cardiac Cath, and Cardiac Rehab. Equipment experience includes Rotoblader, stents, angioplasty, atherectomy, IABP insertions, left/right heart diagnostics studies. Cross trained in all phases including scrub, circulating, and recording Radiology and Cardiology procedures. Direct patient responsibility for geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patient care until the patient is returned to his/her room or until outpatient is discharged.
