                               Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) / Cardiac stepdown - 14 Beds

Patient population consist of chest pain, CHF and atrial arrythmias on cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Milrinone, Lasix, Heparin, Nitroglycerine).  This unit does pre and post care of the cardiovascular patients from the Cath Lab to include pulling sheaths and managing wrist and groin sites.  CDU also performs TEE/Cardioversions under conscience sedation as well as phase II recovery on broncospy patients.  Nursing competency includes BLS, ACLS.  PCCU or Cardiac certification a plus but not required.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients with a wide variety of diagnoses utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
