Description

Piedmont Columbus Regional is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the John B. Amos Cancer Center (JBACC). JBACC is a well-established practice and comprehensive program with an existing referral base and strong community need. Candidates should be competent in the latest protocols in the treatment of cancer, possess excellent clinical skills, and a dedication to providing quality and compassionate patient centered care.

Responsibilities Include:

    1. Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
    2. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
    3. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient’s family, and staff.
    4. Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient’s progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient’s progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

Amos Cancer Center is a regional destination– the only oncology center in the area to offer a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary program accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons – the only treatment center to be so named in the 14-county service area of Columbus, Georgia.  The 107,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility employs 8 hematology oncologists, 2 radiation oncologists, a breast surgeon, a thoracic surgeon, and all associated support and ancillary staff to support the program

 

We are a high-quality center, providing the opportunity for research (phase I-IV clinical trials on site), seeing over 1700 analytical cases per year, RN level support staff, disease-specific nurse navigators, and dedicated onsite support specialists such as financial counselors, dieticians, care coordinators, psychosocial support staff, referral specialists, etc.

    Piedmont Columbus Regional  is part of Piedmont Healthcare’s integrated system of 11 hospitals.  Our system in Columbus is comprised of two hospitals and a cancer center, serving a radius of more than 14 counties. Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

PA:  Graduate of a Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board

--or—

NP:  Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing
