Description

The Resident Activities Coordinator is responsible for the overall development and implementation of the activities program which is designed to promote the physical, social and mental well-being of the residents.  Programs are designed to promote opportunities for engaging in normal pursuits, including religious activities of their choice.  The Resident Activities Coordinator is responsible to the Administrator . Accountability is monitored through performance evaluation, Q.A. activities and comments from employees, residents and guests.


Requirements

EDUCATION

 

Must be a high school graduate.

Prefer graduate of a Therapeutic Recreation Therapy Program.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

 

Is certified by an activities training course approved by the State of Georgia.

Possesses license to operate/drive residents’ transport van.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Two (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was fulltime in a resident

activities program.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Possesses supervisory skills and communication skills sufficient to meet the needs of a variety of levels of staff; family; and varying functional levels of residents.

Planning and organizing skills to manage a complete activities  program calendar of events.

Can operate equipment, such as video and photographic equipment, commonly associated with resident activities.

Can push, pull, lift boxed supplies; transport residents safely. Job requires walking, being on feet for extended time periods as well as desk work in periods of one hour or more.

Can read, write, do arithmetic computations and operate a desk top computer.

Obtains and maintains competence as BLS Heartsaver Adult Provider course.
