Staff RN-Dialysis

Description:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Assembly and operation of hemodialysis machine to provide dialysis treatment for patients under the direction of a registered nurse.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma. Completion of dialysis preparatory program.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of one (1) year experience as a certified hemodialysis technician.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) certification.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of hemodialysis process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assemble hemodialysis machine and guarantee that it is sterile and in working condition for patient.

2. Transports patients to hemodialysis room and positions patient for dialysis treatment.

3. Takes and records patients pre-dialysis vital signs.

4. Takes and records patients pre-dialysis weight.

5. Explains dialysis procedure and operation of dialysis machine to patient before treatment.

6. Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.

7. Communicates issues/concerns to Staff Nurse.

8. Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.

9. Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

10. Engage in safe practices by following the Piedmont error prevention tools.
