Interventional Vein Tech - Outpatient Cardiology

JOB PURPOSE:
Performs physical exams for evidence of peripheral vascular disease. Performs noninvasive testing for evidence of peripheral vascular disease including but not limited to: arterial, venous, abdominal, visceral, intracranial and extracranial cerebral vascular disease and prepares preliminary interpretation of test results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Vascular Ultrasound
a. Act in compliance with the legal rules and regulations applicable to the position
b. Ability to perform cerebrovascular, upper extremity arterial, upper extremity physiological testing, upper extremity venous, abdominal visceral duplex (aorta, mesenteric, renal and abdominal venous duplex), lower extremity arterial duplex, lower extremity physiological studies, dialysis access, TCD, venous reflux, vein mapping and ultrasound guidance during intra-operative vein ablation procedures
c. Perform physical exams for evidence of peripheral vascular disease.
d. Perform patient evaluations and exams per protocol
e. Adhere to the standard time allotments for each type of US exam in order to maintain the efficient flow of patients during the course of the scheduled day
f. Document and maintain test data and prepare preliminary interpretations of test results
g. Assist the Physician in the treatment of varicose veins and saphenous venous insufficiency through ultrasound guided injection, radiofrequency ablation, or endovenous Laser Treatments
h. Assist the Physician in developing a safe and effective treatment plan
i. Assist the Physician in explaining the treatment plan to the patient and how that treatment plan addresses the patient's specific needs
j. Assist in the setup and clean-up the procedure rooms, exam rooms, and ultrasound rooms before and after each patient


2. Quality
a. Develop, monitor, and update a Vascular Lab quality tracking resource to help identify critical incidents and improve patient diagnosis and outcomes
b. Monitor patient care delivery including appropriate implementation of protocol and treatment modalities
c. Follow and comply with all Vascular Lab protocol and accreditation guidelines for quality patient care
d. Participate in Vascular Lab Accreditation maintenance and re-accreditation activities
e. Develop and maintain personal quality of work and skills through continued education and interaction with other Piedmont Healthcare or Ambulatory Vein Care Ultrasound Technologists


3. Operations Support
a. Provide vascular ultrasound support at multiple ambulatory vein care centers
b. Maintain Vascular Lab equipment and maintenance
c. Manage Vascular lab supply inventory
d. Work with ambulatory vein care center providers and management to review the ultrasound schedule to ensure availability of vascular ultrasound technologists to provide excellent and timely patient care and safety, and to maintain the patient load at an efficient and productive level
e. Participate in practice building activities such as attending marketing and outreach events in support of ambulatory vein care requiring the ability to explain venous insufficiency and vein treatment options to potential patients. Events may be held during or after office hours

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Registered as a Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
3 years of progressive work experience in vascular services.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Certificate of Completion from an accredited Ultrasound Program
