Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation to include, but not limited to: medical, diagnostic and procedural information for the correct ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and /or CPT-4 HCPCS codes
Primary coding responsibility is Outpatient Surgery and Observation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelors/Associates Degree in HIM/HIT preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three (3) years of hospital based coding Outpatient Surgery and/or Observations coding experience, required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-H, CCA, CCS-P or equivalent coding certification required.
Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited preferred)
