Piedmont Newnan Hospital - Newnan, Georgia
Performs technical laboratory functions using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Organizes and delineates duties and responsibilities of personnel in the laboratory section. Makes decisions based on his/her skills, knowledge and abilities that are consistent with established hospital and laboratory services policies, procedures and protocols.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent required or graduate of a technical training school in histology. Must meet the requirements for a Histology Technician or Technologist as specified by the Rules of Regulations of the Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure Division (refer to GDHR Department of Community Health Healthcare Facility Clinical Laboratory regulations.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three years of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent).
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of CAP, State of Georgia and other regulatory agency guidelines.
Should have experience with human resource/staff development issues, and use independent judgment. Should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy.
