Description

The Unit Manager is responsible for the clerical functions on the skilled nursing units. He/she assists the Director of Nursing in coordinating and managing unit activities. The Unit Manager is responsible to the Director of Nursing. Accountability is monitored through performance evaluation, Quality Assessment and Improvement activities, and comments from residents, visitors, and employees.


Requirements

EDUCATION

 

High School Diploma /GED required

               

EXPERIENCE

 

Three years experience of clerical duties preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Must be able to read, write, perform basic arithmetic functions.

 

Must have a thorough knowledge of Business English, office management and procedures.

 

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

 

Must have good written and oral communication skills.

 

Must show evidence of responsibility, integrity and honesty.

 

Ability to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.

 

High level of interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively as a team member on a team with varying levels of health care workers

 

Problem solving skills sufficient to allow effective problem/conflict resolution.

 

Demonstrates traits of initiative and dependability.

 

Obtains and maintains CPR skills, Basic Heartsaver Plus course.

 

Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.

Physical Demands
 

Able to:

 

Stand for long periods, 6-8 hours

Sit for extended periods of time

Bend and stoop

Walk for long periods

Lift and position of residents, not to exceed 40 lbs.

Heavy equipment/supplies up to 40 lbs. (will transport residents, supplies and equipment)

Sensory:                Sight to observe residents symptoms

Auditory to hear residents, measure Blood Pressure, alarms

Tactile to  feel residents symptoms (warmth, induration)

Olfactory to smell disease-specific smell, safety hazards.
