The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the care and services provided to Occupational Health patients. The position is also responsible for collaboration with clinical, technical, clerical, administrative and support staff to facilitate the care and progress of the patient through the recovery process. Responsible for conducting physicals according to specific requirements established by the individual corporations and DOT (Department of Transportation), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), as well as, communication and interaction with health care management at the corporate level, such as benefits managers, and workers compensation coordinators. This position must always maintain the highest image and standards as the position represents Piedmont Health Services, Inc.

Provide holistic nursing care in high volume, moderate acuity ambulatory care clinic setting (Occupational Health) to patients, adult, within the guidelines of Piedmont Hospital and the State of Georgia for Licensed Practical Nurse. Administers medications according to department policy and as ordered by the Physician. This position may work at an onsite customer location without direct supervision.

Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role.

Qualifications:

Education
The knowledge base required to function as a Licensed Practical Nurse is normally acquired through graduation from an accredited LPN program. Must successfully complete Licensed Practical Nurse orientation within initial orientation/cross-training period.

Licensure/Certification
License as LPN in Georgia required. Must perform to maximum level of licensure (e.g., LPN must develop skills in medication administration within orientation/cross-training period).

BLS required.

Experience
Minimum of one (1) year experience in an occupational health setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to apply practical nursing education including nursing knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the patients served in an ambulatory clinic setting.

Ability to work independently and to use good judgement, reaching out to physician or nurse supervisor as appropriate.

Substantial level of analytical ability required in order set priorities and coordinate patient care.

Advanced level of interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with multiple personalities and levels of personnel.

Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.

Requires frequent intense concentration and attention to detail 90% of the time to read and document, use equipment and computers, and to prioritize and provide patient care both direct and indirect.

Job requires both initiative and dependability.

Physical Demands
Standing for long periods - 6-8 hours. Sitting for extended periods of time. Bending and stooping. Walking for long periods. Lifting and positioning of heavy patients. Pushing/pulling and lifting heavy equipment/supplies up to 50 pounds (will transport patients, supplies and equipment). Sensory: sight to observe patient symptoms, auditory to hear patients, tactile to feel patient symptoms (warmth, induration), and olfactory to smell disease-specific smells.
