RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Behavioral Health Tech, under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.

Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide appropriate care for psychiatric and/or chemical dependency patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, range of treatment and care of patients appropriate to ages of patients served.
Ability to gather data and document patient care.
Promotes customer service initiatives along with P Medical Centers Service Values.
Documents all patient care, observed patient behaviors by; using the nursing process, based on the nursing process, established hospital policies and procedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and/or Standards of Care/Practice.
Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
Participates and cooperates in the unit based Performance Improvement process.
Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care that results in patient harm or potential harm.
Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirementsv
timely.
Utilizes treatment model and nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients.
Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
Promotes compliance with National Patient Safety Goals.
Provides total hygiene care including skin care, bathing, toileting, etc.
Assists with patient ambulation in room, hall, and bathroom.
Assists in feeding patients, offering fluids and snacks, recording amounts consumed.
Documents vital signs and informs nurse of any change in patient status.
Assists with stocking supplies and maintains clean working environment.
Assists co-workers to meet patient care needs.
Implements ordered level of observation (I.e. q 15 mins, line of sight, or 1:1) and documents such observation in the medical record.
Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.
As a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriately to a manpower request.
Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses systems to report potential patient safety issues
Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
Each round performed is a Purposeful round
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school graduate or equivalent

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Entry Level

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
N/A

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certification required
Certification from a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program preferred
One year of patient care experience preferred
