Chaplain Intern, PT
Overview: Responsible for conducting spiritual needs assessments and providing pastoral care and pastoral counseling for patients of all ages (neonate- geriatrics), families, and staff. Possesses an understanding of the relation between faith, illness, and the emotional and mental conflicts that may arise. Seeks to motivate and invite healthy, meaningful use of each individual's religious beliefs and attitudes in the management of his/her illness or problem. Coordinates and conducts religious services. Administers sacraments when requested. Facilitates support groups and other meetings for patients and their families. Communicates with religious leaders and other professionals in the community in order to provide support and to coordinate ongoing pastoral care for patients and families. Provides HIV counseling for patients and families. Serves as organ procurement counselor for the hospital. Provides counseling for advance directives. Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role. - A student currently enrolled in in religious studies Required or
- a college of religion/Seminary studies or deaconic training in a religious denomination Required
- Must be affiliated with a church, parish, synagogue, etc. Required
- Ordination as a minister and ecclesiastical endorsement by religious denomination Upon Hire Required and
- Brother or Sister in an orthodox religious order Upon Hire Required
