This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations of key departments, including Utilization Review (UR), Intake, Consult Provider Services, and other related system operations. This role involves ensuring that all departments function efficiently and effectively while aligning with the organization's goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices in behavioral health services. The Director will work closely with department heads to improve processes, enhance patient care, and achieve operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Leadership:
1. Oversee daily operations of the Utilization Review (UR), Intake, Consult Provider Services, and other system operations.
2. Ensure all departments meet performance targets and comply with organizational policies and standards.
3. Lead the development and implementation of operational strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and patient outcomes.
Departmental Coordination:
4. Collaborate with department heads to streamline processes, resolve issues, and enhance service delivery.
5. Facilitate communication and coordination among departments to ensure integrated care and operational consistency across the system.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
6. Ensure all operations comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
7. Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency.
8. Regularly review and update departmental policies and procedures to reflect current best practices.
Financial Management:
9. Develop and manage the budget for operational departments, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
10. Monitor financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure departments operate within budgetary constraints.
Performance Improvement:
11. Lead initiatives to improve patient access, service efficiency, and overall patient satisfaction.
12. Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Staff Management and Development:
13. Recruit, train, and mentor department heads and staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
14. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development opportunities for staff.
15. Participate in recruitment for physicians, APPs, and staff.
Strategic Planning:
16. Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's strategic plan, with a focus on operational excellence and patient-centered care.
17. Identify opportunities for growth and innovation within the behavioral health system.
Stakeholder Engagement:
18. Act as a liaison between the Behavioral Health System Office and other departments, providers, and external partners.
19. Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events as needed.
Data and Reporting:
20. Utilize clinical data and metrics to assess service performance, generate reports, and inform decision-making processes. Ensure that key performance indicators are met and communicated effectively to stakeholders.
21. Monitor and assess department productivity, evaluate department staffing, provide input for proformas.
22. Proficient in Tableau dashboards to report/monitor operational department metrics.
23. Monitor Epic proficiency of staff and providers; facilitate educational opportunities to maximize efficiency in partnership with clinical dyads.
Other:
24. Accurately report issues and concerns to appropriate personnel.
25. Facilitate integration of new applications and/or upgrades as appropriate.
26. Maintain staff files for standard reviews. Training, education, licensing, etc.
Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing or a related field required.
Seven (7) years of experience in healthcare operations, to include five (5) years in a leadership role within behavioral health services.

Masters degree preferred.
Hospital based Behavioral Health experience preferred.
