Director - Public Safety

Responsibilities: Directs assigned personnel and coordinates the activities of the Department of Public Safety to provide effective public safety services. Directs the provision of patrol services, investigative services, training services, access control, badging services, parking services, and telecommunication services in accordance with system policies and strategic initiatives. The system supports all security functions to maintain a safe and secure environment. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects. Ensures operational alignment with strategic PHC objectives. The organization enforces all PHC regulations and applicable state and federal laws. Advocates for increased crime prevention, workplace violence prevention, and a secure work environment. Works as part of the System Public Safety Leadership Team in support of the System Director of Public Safety, as well as the local entity Executive Leader. Qualifications: Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Management, or another related field Required or
  • In Lieu of degree (7) seven years of progressive experience in positions of responsibility within Public Safety. Required
Work Experience
  • 7 years general security, military or other public safety experience Required and
  • 3 years leadership experience Required or
  • In lieu of degree (7) seven years of progressive experience in positions of responsibility within Public Safety. Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • pass psychological screening during pre-employment screening Upon Hire Required
  • IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer Preferred
  • Certified Protection Professional (ASIS) Preferred
  • Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
  • May be required to carry less lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or an expandable baton Required
  • May be required to carry company approved firearm Required
  • To carry a lethal or less-lethal weapons the Director must pass and maintain all training requirements Required
