Responsibilities:

Supervises, coordinates and manages nursing activities for a defined group of patients within a hospital/clinical setting whose ages range from infants to geriatrics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and monitors master staffing plan for all units within Womens Services Division.
a. Maintains appropriate staffing ratios based on unit metrics, acuity and/or standards as established by professional practice organizations.
b. Accountable for appropriate staff coverage daily.
c. Ensures the most efficient use of FTEs based on staffing models, skill mix, experience and licensure.
d. Works collaboratively with the staffing office and house supervisors in the planning and implementation of staffing model.
2. Works collaboratively with Medical Staff.
a. Communicates daily with physicians, keeping them apprised of process changes, policies and procedures.
b. Solicits physician input for development and implementation of protocols, order sets, policies and procedures.
c. Serves as nursing leader for appropriate medical staff meetings, provides input on meeting agendas.
d. Solicits and encourages physician involvement in the QI process and other team projects.
e. Focuses on core measure performance by assisting the medical staff with meeting expectations.
3. Serves as a resource to staff under this position and the organization at large.
a. Maintains current knowledge of nursing trends, processes and procedures utilized in the industry.
b. Provides support via education/assistance during the introduction of new processes, policies and/or procedures.
c. Exhibits accountability for accreditation survey readiness.
d. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards and applies expectations to the development of processes for compliance.
4. Exhibits accountability for operational expenses and budget.
a. Minimizes use of agency staffing.
b. Uses incentive pay appropriately and with discretion.
c. Reviews and provides valid operational expense variance reports monthly.
d. Operates within assigned productivity metrics.
e. Strives for economical operations while maintaining quality and patient and staff safety.
Qualifications: Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
  • Bachelors Degree strongly Preferred
Work Experience
  • 7 years of nursing experience to include a minimum of three (3) years of progressive management experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License Upon Hire Required and
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire Required and
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
  • ACLS Upon Hire Required and
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
