Lead MRI Tech

Overview:

JOB PURPOSE: Performs and supervises modality daily operations and provides leadership
relative to the assigned area. This position requires 70 percent patient care and 30 percent
supervisory functions. Promotes and advocates imaging services by remaining abreast of the
latest changes in technology and equipment. The Lead MRI Technologist ensures
accreditations standards are maintained as well as performs a variety of tasks involving the
operation of MRI equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates patient flow and provides guidance to staff technologists
2. Provides patient care
3. Provides high quality images
4. Performs image file management in PACS
5. Directs daily departmental operations
6. Oversees orientation and continuing education programs for employees
7. Directs and manages personnel to include staffing schedules and annual evaluations
8. Manages supplies and contains costs
9. Promotes customer service excellence
10. Performs all accreditation responsibilities required by the American College of Radiology
11. Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging
equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology
program or JRCERT accredited hospital-based training program. Registered as an MRI
technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. ARRT (MR)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3-years of technical experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Registered by the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists with certification in MRI.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS Certified
Evidence of leadership, critical problem-solving skills, prioritization, and decision-making
skills.
Experience in leadership of personnel.
Knowledge of regulatory and ACR accreditation requirements
