Pharmacy Tech IV

Description:

This hybrid Pharmacy Technician role includes both traditional inpatient technician duties and is responsible for the admixture of medications into IV solutions, preparation of unit dose syringes, chemotherapy medications, and compounding for critical care and OR satellite areas. The position supports inventory management and operates in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. Collaborates with pharmacy and technical staff to define and document best practices. Scheduled to work two-day shifts (starting as early as 7:00 AM), two evening shifts (starting at 3:00 PM) per week, and every other weekend. No overnight shifts required.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Responsible for the admixtures of medications to IV solutions. Preparation of unit dose syringes, chemotherapy medications, and compounding of solutions/medications used in the critical care and OR satellite areas. Maintaining adequate stock levels in assigned areas. Functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations. Works with pharmacy and technical staff to define and document business rules and best practice. Functions in duties of a Pharmacy Technician as needed.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous pharmacy technician experience with IV admixtures preferred.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Registration (current) required with the state Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
IV chemotherapy preparation experience preferred.
PTCB Certification preferred.
