Piedmont Columbus Regional joined the Piedmont family in March 2018 and is one of southwest Georgia's largest not-for-profit hospitals. The Midtown campus is 583-bed, acute care hospital and features a regional Level II trauma center and is one of only six perinatal centers in the state with a Level III neonatal ICU and a full-service pediatric intensive care unit. The Northside campus is a 100-bed, acute care hospital specializing in an extensive range of surgical services and physical rehabilitation and will open an emergency department in late April 2018. Founded in 1836, the hospital has garnered national acclaim in clinical quality and patient satisfaction, stroke care, oncology and pediatrics.
The Midtown campus has been home to the Family Medicine Residency Program since 1972. The nationally recognized program which was the first of its kind in Georgia and one of the first in the Southeast, has graduated more than 300 family physicians.
