Piedmont Atlanta is launching our Internal Medicine Residency program to train outstanding physicians to make a lasting impact on community health in Atlanta and Georgia for generations to come.

Our curriculum

Our 4+2 X+Y schedule means you’ll rotate through four-week inpatient or subspecialty blocks followed by two-week continuity clinic blocks. This structure ensures uninterrupted learning, competency-based advancement, and exposure to the full range of internal medicine milestones. We’ve reimagined traditional team and rotation models to ensure you’ll gain the skills you need for confident, independent practice in any post-residency setting.

How to apply:

Complete an ERAS application. Application materials are only accepted through ERAS.

What to submit:

Personal statement
CV
Recent photo
Medical school transcript
Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
USMLE and/or COMLEX transcript
3–4 letters of recommendation (minimum of 2 letters plus a chairperson's letter required)

For international candidates:

Clearly specify visa status in your ERAS application, including dates and time limits
ECFMG alternate pathways accepted
Limited sponsorship available for J-1 visa candidates
At least 2 letters of recommendation should be from clinical supervisors in the United States

Program signals:

Gold signals indicate strong interest and may increase the likelihood of an interview invitation if selection criteria are met
Silver or no signals are also considered
Geographic preferences are considered in interview selection
Applications are reviewed holistically based on experiences, attributes, and career goals
Signals are used for interview invitations only and do not affect rank list decisions

Interview process:

Initial interviews are virtual – we offer times designed to accommodate multiple time zones
Majority of invitations are released Tuesdays and Fridays after 3:00 PM EST
Invitations scheduled in accordance with AAIM guidelines
Optional second look offered after rank list lock date

Eligibility:

Candidates must be within five years of graduation from medical school
